The Colliers Government Solutions team represents owners of government-leased properties nationally. So, we travel a lot. This slideshow profiles my trip earlier this year to Corpus Christi, Texas. (Use arrow buttons to advance slides)
Corpus Christi is located on Texas' Gulf Coast, halfway between Houston and the Mexican border. It is far enough south that it experiences subtropical weather almost year round. With a population of only 312,000, it is only the 8th most populous city in the State of Texas. Similar to the rest of the State however, the Corpus Christi population is experiencing significant growth and is expected to almost double within the next 10 years. These projections are in large part due to the recent shale oil and gas production boom. The Corpus Christi Federal Courthouse is located on 3.5 acres in downtown Corpus Christi overlooking Corpus Christi Bay. Completed in early 2001, the Courthouse is made of Texas Shell Limestone and plaster veneer exterior. 205 S. Enterprise Parkway is home to a new Veterans Administration Specialty Outpatient Clinic. Developed in 2012, this 43,236 facility currently provides mental health, orthopedics, podiatry and physical therapy services. There are 1,200 Social Security Administration field offices in the United States but only one in Corpus Christi. 3801 S Port Avenue was developed in 2002 as a build-to-suit for the agency . In January 2013, The Corpus Christi City Council approved a 20-year lease agreement for the Coast Guard to build a new facility on vacant city-owned land near the airport. The project will include an office building, hangar, ground service equipment repair facility, and aircraft parking ramp. Coast Guard operations currently are split between office space downtown and Hangar 41 at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. The facility could require about 23 acres and is estimated to cost between $23 million and $40 million. The building is being developed by a partnership between FD Stonewater and the Lynxs Group. Surfing in Texas? Yes and cowboy boots not required. This picture was taken from Padre Island, the second largest island by area in the contiguous United States, after Long Island. It is about 113 miles long and 2 miles wide, stretching from the city of Corpus Christi, in the north, to the resort community of South Padre Island in the south.
